From City Life to Sea Life: our remote lifestyle!
Today, we spend about six months a year sailing the Mediterranean on our sailboat Trudy, hosting yoga sailing retreats. The rest of the year? We follow our intuition, letting life unfold with a bit more space and a lot less structure. We chose a remote lifestyle!
But this lifestyle didn’t happen overnight.
Before becoming “Ale & Ale,” we were two professionals with regular jobs in tax advisory and IT—structured, fast-paced careers that checked all the boxes of success. But over time, those boxes felt empty. Despite the career paths, we both experienced a quiet dissatisfaction, a longing for something deeper and more connected.
The Leap Into the Unknown

Back then, we hadn’t met yet. But the universe had already started drawing our paths toward each other.
Ale.a was the first to take a leap—leaving a secure job without a clear plan, just a strong inner knowing that something had to change. What followed was a year of travel, of seeking, and of softening. A yoga teacher training in India in 2018 became the real beginning of her transformation. That experience didn’t just shape her as a teacher—it changed how she saw herself and her life.
She discovered in yoga a toolkit for clarity, presence, and conscious living. And as her energy shifted, the pieces started to fall into place. Including meeting the other Ale—on a sailboat.
Building the Dream: A Life on the Water
From the very beginning of our relationship, we dreamed of living and working from a sailboat. It felt distant, maybe a bit wild, but deeply exciting. And so we started—step by step building our remote lifestyle.
We transitioned our traditional jobs into remote roles, tested our retreat format on rented sailboats, and saved up for our own boat. We dreamed out loud, made plans, adjusted them, and slowly brought that dream to life.
Ale.a often visualized this life during her yoga practice: a floating home, a calm bay, the rhythm of the sea. It started as an image—and then it became our day-to-day.

The Challenges and the Growth
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its hard parts. Adapting to remote work from a sailboat, managing a seasonal retreat business, and living in close quarters with the sea (and each other!) came with their own lessons.
But each challenge brought clarity. We learned to trust the process, embrace change, and move through discomfort with awareness.
Yoga was our anchor. It gave us the mindset to navigate uncertainty and the courage to keep choosing a life aligned with our values.
From Our Story to Yours
Our sailing yoga retreats were born from this transformation. They’re not just a holiday—they’re an invitation to experience what it feels like to slow down, reconnect with nature, and reconnect with yourself.
In upcoming posts, we’ll share more about the practices, tools, and mindset shifts that supported our journey—from yoga and mindfulness to practical choices that made this lifestyle possible.
