We both come from backgrounds in legal and technical consulting. We both love yoga and the sea. We both have the same name. We are yoga teacher and certified sailing instructor.
ale&ale (Alessandra and Alessandro) was born from the desire for union. We believe that, even though the world is a diverse and sometimes chaotic place, nature can teach us about harmony. We offer more than just yoga retreats; the heart of our story begins in the sea…
We love the sea. The water, as an element in general, brings calmness, tranquility and peace. It encourages introspection and gives us a deep sense of connection with nature. When we are sailing, we are unified with what surrounds us and in tune with natural forces. In order to sail well, we must understand the motion of the wind and the movement of the water.
The word yoga means “union”- union of body and mind, union of mind and spirit. Union between human beings, union between nature and ourselves. We believe that through yoga we can begin a path toward deeper union with the universe.
We have experienced a strong connection between sailing and yoga – linked by the meditative quality of the sea – and we found that they complement each other perfectly. Practiced regularly, yoga sailing holidays have helped us to reach deeper states of inner peace. We feel that Sailing is Yoga on Water. The combination of sailing and yoga has changed our lives. So we wanted to offer the opportunity for everyone to experience this transformative union.

Us

about

Alessandra is a yoga devotee and has been teaching yoga since 2017.
After having studied classical and modern dance for more than 20 years and graduating as a modern dance teacher with IDA (International Dance Association), Alessandra discovered yoga during a university exchange in India in 2009. Since then, she has continued practicing yoga in Europe, investigating different styles. Seeking a more comprehensive perspective on her yogasana practice, Alessandra has explored both theoretical and experiential yoga philosophy based on Patanjali’s yoga sutras. She has additionally undertaken a two-year teacher training.

Alessandra then went on to complete a yoga teacher training in line with the international standards of Yoga Alliance at Himalaya Yoga Valley, in India. Alessandra has more deeply studied the Ashtanga Yoga practice, in a comprehensive and traditional way.

Humbly honouring the ancient tradition of yoga, Alessandra’s style draws its roots from Patanjali’s philosophy and is inspired by Vinyasa Yoga. It combines the more physical and dynamic asana practice with breathing practice (pranayama), concentration (dharana) and relaxation.

Alessandra teaches yoga online and in presence in Torino and Berlin – both in yoga studios and corporate environments. She also organises workshops and yoga retreats on sailing boats for ale& ale.

After Ale and Ale’s project kicked-off, she has been keen in learning how to sail, and in 2020 she successfully obtained the RYA Day Skipper license. She is therefore acting as second capitain in command on the boat.

Yoga teacher & skipper

Alessandra

Alessandro is an experienced skipper.
He graduated with a degree in naturalism, and loves any sport that puts him in contact with the nature.

Alessandro began his navigation career as a crew-member of a sailing boat on a trip across the Atlantic over 20 years ago. Realising that his love for the sea extended beyond a mere hobby, he then went on to receive certification as a skipper. In recent years, he has strengthened his professional skills as a skipper during sailing holidays with young, active crews, as well as with families and children.

As both a certified lifeguard and sailing instructor Alessandro is happy to teach the theoretical and practical basics of sailing to all ale&ale yoga sailing holidays participants. As he navigates the coastal areas of the ale&ale tours, he passionately uses his vast naturalist knowledge to highlight the beauty of the environments through which we sail.
  • Qualified lifeguard as from 2000
  • Qualified skipper as from 2005
